First of all thank you for your service to our country. I run team with my girlfriend and in the last few years as company drivers we have grossed between about 80,000 our first year to being on track for about 150,000 this year. The first year is a little tough and you'll have to be gone from home for pretty long periods of time but with a year experience and clean driving records you can easily find a dedicated run that leaves near your house. Do alot of research on which company is going to best fit your needs and don't worry to much about loyalty to one company for a couple of years, your probably going to want to jump around until you find what fits you. E-mail me for some company suggestions for the region that you live in or some tips on running team if you would like them.

Team drivers can make far more than this - more than double the above amount - with experience, on-time bonus, and a solid safety record.

If you had you CDL's for a while it's not impossable to make 45 to 60 a year. Most companies start you out at 28 to 32 cents a mile. Look for a repitale compay thats been around for a while. Don't take the first one. Good luck!

well you can get a job driving truck almost anywhere always in demand. And the money you make is based on how much you work, paid usually by the mile.

my step father is a truck driver and he says that it doesn't make as much money as people think it does. i have heard lots of people say how it would be a great job for the money and travelling but think about the cons too... many hours on the road with bad drivers, lots of travel time sitting down, long hours driving (technically you are only supposed to drive for so long and then get a break but a lot of truck companies don't follow the rules), etc. weigh your options carefully. try it on a trial basis. it also depends on how far distances are you driving. the perk would be that if you drive out of country or city (long distance) then they will put you up in a hotel when you get to certain check points.

Depends on if you own your own truck or drive for a company which offers all the benefits. My whole family is in trucking and they all made enough to put kids through college and buy nice homes. A good company if you can get on is Freightliner out of portland oregon or Star trucking out of Atlanta Ga. I have a friend who owned his own dump truck and made really good money but sold out for a fifth wheel that hauls cars and makes 3 times what he made driving dump.

Having recently worked the office side of the truck drivers, loads can have a rate of $1200 - $2300. It just depends on where you're going. Loads I've paperworked, for example....FL to IN would be $1200, and about a 2 day drive. The least I've seen was a load for $400, short distance. You could make some good money!
