Stick with the Medical field. It shows some of the steadiest growth over most other occupations- meaning long-term opportunity for you and less liklihood of having to retrain. As far as financial compensation- remember the bottom line salary isn't all there is- you have to consider perks like insurance, vacation, personal days, health clubs, etc. It also depends on where you live and what your market will bear. Check out salary.com for a free basic report. It'll tell you salaries, education requirements, etc.

You are getting out of a good arena with what you say you want to do. Hook on with a medical environment in Physical Therapy as a base occupation, get into Occupational Therapy, sports medicine, rehab athletes, etc. you should soon top the $60k number. You probably do not want to go back to med school, since you had to work your way through. ( at least, not now) If you want to make some real money, get into the financial markets in your spare time, trade some common stocks, read, study the market, make some small conservative plays, etc.
