Career Decision and Life Direction in Engineering
Asked by mars3015
I am considering moving from Engineering, Electrical to Engineering and Public Policy. I am considering going from working in microelectronics and semiconductors to Alternative Energy Policy. I would like to do a Master's and PhD in this area. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. I am wondering whether energy issues will be popular if oil prices go down and also, what else anyone thinks about this. Thanks!

I have a EE degree and designed power plants and many other energy projects. I went for an MBA after 5 yrs in the business. The experience with licensing, legal and policy issues helps a lot when you select your masters path. I'd recommend you consider it.

If you can do it, go for it!! I'ma former high tech engineer and tech is not going anywhere anytime soon. Alternative energy is the hot area and I can't see that changing anytime soon. It's pretty much an obvious decision. Best, -- Liam
