What is the salary for an LVN in Houston? Is nursing school for LVN easier than RN school?
Asked by Rachel M
Not looking for the easy way out by asking if it is easier. I'm just as simple as it sounds-- curious. Do LVN work in the newborn nursery in hospitals?

The starting salary for an LVN in Houston is between $33,000 and $36,000 per year depending on the facility. Of course an LVN program is easier than an RN program. You can only imagine that since an LVN has certain skills and knowledge to accumulate in order to pass the NCLEX-PN and function, it would be harder to learn all of that information plus the additional skills and information required to be an RN. Some facilities may have some LVNs in the newborn nursery, but many will have all or mostly RNs. In fact in many parts of the US some of the hospitals are phasing the LVN positions out, and filling the positions with RNs.
