What breaks am i entitled to?
Asked by AnonyMOOSE
I'm on a week of work experience and i'm 16.
Even though its not proper employment i'm still working just as i would if i was working full time there.
I work from 9 to 4 and I get a half hour break.
Is that ok i think its too little...?

no this is fine.
it might not seem long to you but if you were doing 9-5 then you would be entitled to an hour. but this is not set in stone as every company differs. consider yourself lucky, i work twelve hour shifts and i only get half an hour!

Half an hour is the legal requirement, in the UK

That is more than the legal requirement ... the legal requirement is 20 minutes if you work more than six hours.
I work from 9:00am to 5:00pm and get a half hour break. I'm sure others work longer hours than that.

I work exactly the same hours, with half hour break for lunch. 30 minutes for lunch is quite normal; it was the same in my last job too. Those that get an hour for lunch usually end up working longer hours anyway.
