JOB SUMMARY:

**The NAII works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse or delegated Licensed Practical Nurse to provide patient care within their scope of practice. The patient care activities are individualized for each patient population. The NAII is also responsible for completing a variety of department specific tasks to assist with optimal department safety and functioning.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

1. Competently performs a variety of patient care activities to meet the daily personal needs and comfort of the patient. Performs Nurse Aide II skills as approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and facility policy.

2. Appropriately communicates information in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

3. Organizes, prioritizes, and performs work effectively and efficiently.

4. Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance team performance

5. Demonstrates a daily commitment to the values of the department

6. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with all members of the team.

7. Maintains and promotes customer satisfaction.

8. Demonstrates the Standards of Performance for Ownership, Communication, Compassion and Teamwork

9. Models and reinforces Service and Operational Excellence on the unit at all times and shall serve as a resource for staff with questions about Service and Operational Excellence.

10. Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of the medical center on a daily basis.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II course. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support or Health Care Provider card.

2. Licensure / Certifications: Maintain current status on the Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II registry. Attend at least 12 hours of facility approved continuing education classes each calendar year.

3. Experience: Experience preferred.

4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Must be able to demonstrate sufficient dexterity to perform all skills as set forth in the NA I and NA II scope of practice. Must have the ability to speak clearly for patient communication. Must be able to communicate and be literate in the English language.

5. Interpersonal Skills: Must have the ability to interact positively with patients, patient's families, and members of the interdisciplinary team so as to promote positive patient care.

6. Essential Physical Requirements: Must be able to assist patients with activities of daily living. Must be able to use proper body mechanics and lift at least 45 pounds.

7. Essential Mental Abilities: To be able to follow detailed and diverse instructions for assisting several patients in the daily living routine. Requires long and short term memory.

8. Essential Sensory Requirements: Must be able to utilize senses of hearing, sight, smell, touch, and equilibrium.

9. Exposure to Hazards: Frequent exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious diseases and occasional exposure to Chemotherapy and radiation in certain area. Mental exposure to stress and frustration.

10. Other - Hours of Work: Flexible schedule to accommodate staffing needs which include weekends/holiday, rotating shifts, and on call

12. Population served: Neonates Infants Pediatrics Adolescents (12 - 17 years) Adults ( 18 - 71 years) Geriatrics ( 72 + years)
